R8, P2, VLCD 5 - Overly Active Day

Today's weight: 180.4 pounds. The nice thing was that I awoke to my hubby in bed next to me. He

neglected to turn on his alarm last night, so I had the pleasure of having a full eight hours of sleep with him (a rarity at my house). He had to call in and let them know he would be late but he didn't seem too upset about getting all the extra sleep. It was nice to have him around this morning as we all got ready for work and school. People probably take that time for granted. It is something that I rarely get to experience.

The first Wednesday of every month is "Lunch with the Mayor". I was asked to actually pick up kids this time from an elementary school (normally, I ride with a firefighter). It was fun picking them up and dropping them off. What wasn't fun was having to eat my boring burger and lettuce while they scarfed down slice after slice of lovely pizza. It smelled heavenly. One of the Parks and Rec guys noticed I didn't have any. I assured him that I would be back to asking for my 8 slices that I promptly scrape for tasty cheese and pepperoni. Ah, the low carb life. Yum!

With all the running around there, then all the errands I ran after work, I was exhausted by the time I pulled up to pick up my kids from school. Running on less than 500 calories from the day before really did me in today. I cheated a bit at dinner and had a little extra protein. I don't usually find that this hurts me, but I definitely want to document that it was truly necessary and I certainly do not feel bad about it.

I'm loving the Ashwagandha and how it makes me feel. The double Valerian last night helped to put me in an amorous mood. Hubby was pleased (wonder if that's why he neglected to set his alarm clock...). Although the day was hectic and busy, it was good. Here's what I had (P.S. I did have a few asparagus stems for dinner that I neglected to add below:

R8, P2, VLCD 4 - Comit (Cough/Vomit)

Today was 181.6lbs (about a half pound loss). I suppose the upper carbs had something to do with the lesser loss. No worries, though. I did stray a bit for my lunch but I had serious nausea issues this morning. Not sure why, but when the calmed down, that's when the weirdness appeared.

I arrived at work, parked my car, put the shade up and got ready to get out of my car when I...coughed/vomited into my hand. What?! It was so weird. Whenever I've had a vomiting episode, I get the stomach churns and other signals to let me know I'm about to become my own, personal volcano; however, today, I was just going in for a little cough (not even a cold/coughing spell cough) and bleh; coffee and mucus right into my hand.

I hurried into the bay and said a quick hello to the guys before I went into the restroom to take care of my issues. It was disgusting and I'm still not sure what exactly happened. Is it possible that the combination of cough syrup and the hot toddy I had last night contributed to my tummy trouble? I tried to keep things fairly chill this evening and, thankfully, no coughing fits tonight (hence, no cough syrup). I did have two cups of lovely tea and am considering taking a little Valerian tonight (just two, not three). I haven't had any since Sunday so I'm probably okay.

Missed the couscous my daughters had for dinner tonight. The smell was divine! I do miss some carbs, but since I live my life as a low-carber now, the carbs I miss are good and hearty. December, where are you?

R8, P2, VLCD 3 - Herbs, Spice and Everything Nice

Today's weight: 182.2  which is a lovely release of 2.6lbs. I didn't have my lunch until way late because I was running a lot of errands. One errand, the title above, is my continuing search for "relaxing" herbs. I went to the Harvest Moon nutrition store and purchased Ashwagandha, SkullCap and Lemon Balm tea. I took the first supplement almost after I bought it, since it stated it needed to be taken before eating. I thought I would surely be eating after that, but then I remembered I didn't have sour cream for the cake I was baking today. Ugh! Then, I remembered I was out of cake boxes and my rings are missing-in-action, so off to Hobby Lobby I went. They were completely out of boxes! What? Did everybody bake a cake for Halloween?

Finally, I went to the grocery store and made my single purchase of sour cream, came home and started right into baking. The cake is for one of my hubby's clients, who is traveling out of state for a competition. He'd had several pieces of my Kahlua cake at his last competition and totally fell in love. He asked for an entire cake for his travels and I was thoroughly flattered (and happy to do it free of charge). :)

Tonight, I did feel pretty at ease and nestled in with a cup of the lemon balm tea. I followed it up with some sleepy time, a-la Ezra Brooks because my cough has come back. More airborne for me! Right now, I don't think I'll need cough meds, but we'll see.

Here's what I had today (finally broke 500 calories). Because the carbs were over 20 grams, I wonder if it will effect my loses? I sure hope not. Here it is:

R8, P2, VLCD 2 - Fall Chills

Woke up to 184.8 pounds today (2.2lb loss) and 40 degree weather. Yikes!
I suppose things are moving, now.  Hubby is on board

but I can tell he'd rather snack away with me. We went to church this morning as a family. After which, I ran a few errands (on the lookout for Lemon Balm, Ashwagandha, L-Theanine or Skullcap). When I was only successful in finding an audio cord for my MP3 car adapter, I came home. He arrived soon after and we all went shopping...for food.

We always find a plethora of treats at a discount store found a bit north of where we live. Currently, they are well overstocked in some amazing kettle chips. The last time we were there, we bought a bag and the entire family preceded in polishing them off in two days. I asked for more (for the future). We also found limited edition maple
french toast English muffins. The bag smelled marvelously. Hubby snagged a bag of oatmeal raisin cookies. I did fairly well and allowed the smells to envelope me rather than tempt me. (I wonder if the Valerian was still in my system?)

I wondered even more when we came home and I was relaxed and mellow without too much effort. I won't take three again (unless I'm needing sleep). It about knocked me on my butt last night; however, with the sleepiness came a sweet, calming with it; very different from traditional sleeping pills.

Very low on calories again, today, but I was thrilled to have my crab legs. I've got several packages but I'll need to space them out over the course of the round. Since they are my favorite, I don't want to overload and turn myself off of them completely.

Here's what I had today (Observations - very low sodium, low carb, good amount of protein and fat):

R8, P2, Day 1 - Remembering How it Goes

I woke up to 187 pounds; very far from where I thought I would be. I was guessing 188 or 189 at least. I feel like I loaded well but the numbers aren't what I expected. I suppose every round is going to be a bit different.

The first three days of low calorie are the toughest.  I was doing well until dinner time, then I remembered that the life span of the HCG injection I took this morning was probably waning. I don't have enough of it in my system yet to deal with the night time munchies issue I sometimes struggle with.

The day was spent doing my daughter's hair and watching episode after episode of Sex and the City. She's trying to get through the series so that she can watch the movie (we're on the last disc of season four). I told her that she would appreciate it much more if she watched the show, became acquainted with the stories and grew to know the characters. She's definitely eager to get through them. My youngest went to a friend's house for the afternoon. She had a ball and promptly called to ask if the girl could spend the night. I let her know, under no uncertain terms, that sleepovers need to be planned well in advance.

Today was a day of "trying" herbs. Valerian will be a part of my sleep arsenal (I actually looked to buy it for another reason). Turns out that I'm barely keeping it together here and am totally ready to pass out. Phew! I'll never need to buy sleeping pills for myself again; however, if my girls ever need them, they're much smaller and easier to swallow than the horse pills the Valerian comes in.

Here's what I had today:

Happy Halloween (and Second Loading day)

It really worked out quite well that my last loading day would be today. I wore my costume to work, coming in tow with Lofthouse cookies for the guys and a lovely, French toast breakfast. For lunch? I picked up some fabulous Greek food. I then baked a Kahlua cake for my daughter's, Girl Scout Halloween party.

At the party, the girls painted pumpkins and participated in a "Pop Walk" (similar to a cake walk; just soda bottles as rewards instead). After which, they nibbled on a variety of candies, cakes and treats. We came home and watched a bit of television before going back out to pick up pizzas for dinner. Pizzas promptly scarfed down, I indulged in a piece of my own cake.

Why all the food talk today? Well, I was disappointed (?) to find that my weight had not changed this morning, even after some pretty serious indulging. I figured that I didn't get in enough so I made sure to eat and eat and eat today. I don't know that I'm finished yet, but I will post what I've had so far (I think a little Halloween candy may be in my future).

Here's what I've had so far:

Begin Another...

Today started like the others; challenging. It's always a struggle and yet I'm always surprised when it happens. I have the best intentions of eating everything-under-the-sun and then I'm amazed and perplexed by how much I don't want to eat. The daily plate will have the information from here on out, but today, I'll just list what I had (a little bit of background though - I've been sick with the crud and have been on a myriad of immune boosters and meds to try to get myself healthy before the VLCDs arrive. This always results in a huge retention in water and salt):

Breakfast:

7-Eleven Medium-sized Vanilla Cappuccino
1 ginormous apple fritter
1 Jack Link's Lil' Chub

Lunch:
Asian buffet take-home container (rice noodles, stir-fried rice and ham, one spring roll, one egg roll, two cheese wontons, sweet and sour chicken (1/2 serving) and 1 serving of General Tso's chicken

Dinner:

Breakfast for dinner
6 slices of bacon
2 buttered slices of cinnamon bun/cinnamon bread
1 packet instant grits

I was 186 this morning.

Never Say Never

There have been a lot of statements and cliches made throughout the centuries, I think this one still holds quite true. Here I am again to document yet another round. The good news is that it will be a short round and P3 will begin on Thanksgiving day. The bad news is that I'm about 11 or 12 pounds over my last injection weight from my last round. I could list all the reasons and make tons of excuses but I'm not going to. The positive end is that I'm no where near where I was a few years ago and I'm always making strides to move forward. Therefore, I feel like I'm still being successful.

For the summer, I spent many mornings huffing the walking trail at the park down the street. I love that trail! Being outside and getting my endorphins going was wonderful. When it turned cold, however, I could no longer justify going out in 40 degree whether with no lights. It's a little too creepy and there were a plethora of unsavory characters nearby. Once this round ends, I will contain my workouts to the home front (Jane, Charlene, Susan do you hear me?)

For hubby's birthday this past summer, I purchased boudoir/couple shots. Now, why on earth did I do this? Didn't it occur to me that I would have to be in these pictures? Brilliant (hence, the short round). I will never be a skinny-Minny again but I certainly don't want to look back on these pictures and say, "Dear God! Look at the beached whale!" The hope is that I can trim down nicely for the pictures and maintain a bit longer than I did the last round. If I can achieve "maintenance nirvana" then, hooray! If not, then I won't beat myself up over it.

The round will begin tomorrow. In fact, tonight's homework is to re-read the protocol and mix up my
"brew" of HCG. I will be doing injections again (this seems to work the best for me) and I'll most likely shop for all the food prep on Friday. Then, while the family is out trick-or-treating, I'll prepare my meals for the week. I have to remember that I'll only be inconvenienced for one month (less than that, really) and the benefits will be worth it.

R7, P2, VLCD 3 - Watermelon Vodka

It's nice to have a cocktail, but I'm wondering where all the vodka went. Hubby says he's been working on it through the week. Not cool, since this is the only alcohol I can "legally" drink. At any rate, I did get some and it is quite tasty.

Another very low carb day. I'm not taking in bread (grissini or melba toast) or fruit (grapefruit or apples). I may do so towards the end, when things get more challenging.  Tomorrow,  my plan is to check out the local Winco for discounted crab legs. I'll be needing a treat this weekend. I'll also have to purchase for next week's meals. It went really fast. I hope that will be the case for the next three weeks. Three weeks? Really?! Seems like a lot longer.

Here's what I had (a lot of the same, except for the vodka which is totally making me pee a lot!):

R7, P2, VLCD 2 - Smoothing Out

I'm less bitchy today than yesterday, thank goodness. It was a shock for my body, I'm sure, to go from over 400 grams of carbs to a measly 16 grams. Today, it was lower. Can't figure out why, since I ate exactly what I had yesterday. I did drink a lot more today.  The addition of milk to my coffee will happen on Sunday. There are a few more carbs in milk than in cream, so I'm a little nervous.

The day went well and I did a bit of a "dream vacation" searching while at work. There wasn't a ton going on, so I didn't feel too badly searching the airline and vacation sites. It would be terrific if we could do some of these awesome things we've been dreaming about.

R7, P2, VLCD 1 - Aches and Pains

I suppose I must have slept weird last night because my back has been killing me all day. I've been so focused on that, that my lack of food didn't really hit me until this evening. I'm irritable and in pain. Not a good combination at all.

The weight was way high this morning; 186.8lbs. Ugh! Hope that goes away quickly. Here's what the first, very low calorie day brought:

Fill 'er Up!

I don't know why I'm still amazed, as if anything things will be so different from round to round. I eat and don't want to. I gorge until I'm overflowing and just so miserable. Yesterday, the indigestion came on shortly after I posted. I took a few tums and prayed for immediate relief. It came in the form of two voids. Two! Then, I had crazy dreams from all the sugar and craziness I ate. I suspect I'll have a lot of the same issues today (at least, the weird dreams). I'm thinking the probiotic I took this morning may aid with any digestion woes. We'll soon see.

The only real discrepancy below is that I had Black Forest Cake wine, but couldn't find it in the daily plate database. No idea how many calories, but I guess it truly doesn't matter. It does look like this, however:

I weighed in at 183.8lbs this morning. Phew! That's the end of loading, now here comes the challenging part. I'm preparing for the next three days. Ready, set, go!

"She Needs to Go to the Juicing Room"

That's about how I feel; all full of air and juice. It's the same every time. As soon as I inject, I don't want the food, but I have to keep eating. Then, on the third day, I'm aching for all this yummy stuff I'm giving up. Is it worth it? You better believe it!

I cleared about 3500 calories today. Yep! An entire pound worth of calories. I don't know how body builders eat like this day in and day out. Well, not exactly like this. Their menu is full of healthy food, while mine looks like something you find at the city dump. Yikes! I had a weight of 181.6 this morning. Again, the loading really started last Friday with my Valentine's trip (sans injections). I can only hope that it's all for the greater good. Here's what I had:

Tomorrow, I'm having lunch with a friend at Pei Wei. Better to sneak that in during the loading process, then wait until the end of March and have her wonder why I brushed her off in February (we have monthly "meals" together). It's a great tradition we've engaged in for the past year. So glad this is a short round. Here we go!
