Making Good Progress

I've lost a few "L.B.s", as the gossip shows put it. It's a slow, steady journey. I'm mostly low carb so, the fat content is a bit higher than what I've done in the past, but I'm sated and feeling like I'm getting good nutrition. Hubby and I started our Detox this week. I can't tell if it's doing anything yet, but I'll keep up the regime for the entire 7 days as directed. It can only make things better, right?

Last night, I made a cheesy, green bean chicken casserole. The main ingredients were cheese, chicken and green beans but the other tidbits are what made it extra special. I hit three of the main food groups with just one dish! The girls? In heaven! Both asked for seconds and my oldest asked for thirds. We finished it up tonight. That recipe is definitely making its way into my regular rotation.

I need to get in more activity, but it's hard with my insane work schedule. I actually didn't get done until 7:45 this evening. Ugh! Thankfully, not a regular occurrence for me but, yeesh! I hope I don't see many more long evenings like it again. The workouts, however sparse, have been effective and make me feel good. I'm not doing anything too strenous yet. A bit of treadmill walking and some Wii action gets my heart rate pumping. I look forward to doing my Firm discs again. That's when I'll incorporate weight training and that's always good.

"Hello, TOM. What's with you being a day late? You better not pull a fast one and show up during my romantic New Year's with my hubby. I will be very put out."

Hump Day - On the Downhill Slope

I won't even utter what my weight was, yesterday. Scary! I did document it on thedailyplate and have been keeping that pretty consistent. The nice things is that I did show a two pound loss this morning. The water weight is still there, but I don't feel as bloated. I always forget; is it two or three days after TOM that the water goes away completely? I'm hoping it's two, because today is my last day and I'd like to enjoy a piece of Julian bread again before the week ends (if possible).

Yes. I've been revisiting P3 food options to try and correct the damage from the weekend. It seems to be working. I haven't worked out again this week, but plan to tomorrow (I don't have calls that start at 6:00am, thankfully so I'll actually be able to get in my 30 minutes - -I'm a morning workout, girl).

The salt is way too high and I'm steadily sipping on my water and chastising myself for going salt overboard. I plan to do much better tomorrow. Here are my totals for the past couple of days:

R2, P3 Day 5 - Salt Girl

Without meaning to, I had more salt today then I should have. I am glad to report that I really wasn't hungry at all. Every meal I ate was very satisfying and so good. Tonight, I tried a new recipe and it turned out to be pretty good. I would have liked to have added the additional meats but, putting in sausage would have been risking a lot. Perhaps I'll try it again with sausage during P4. Corn syrup rules all sausage production, unfortunately and cured meat like ham is a no-no.

Tomorrow, we'll be going to the pool for my sister's birthday. I still have this blasted cough that just won't die so, I won't be getting my head wet (just the rest of me). It should be fun but I'm not looking forward to the crowds and crowds of people. We're headed to Red Lobster after wards for her birthday dinner and I think I'll be sampling their salmon or crabs. Yum!

I had just a slight increase today. I came in at 140.8lbs. What's crazy is the scale was on our bedroom carpet because hubby mopped all the floors, yesterday. When I put it on the floor for the first time and weighed, it displayed 144.2 pounds. I was mortified! I was sure I'd have to do another steak day (and couldn't understand why). So then, after brushing my teeth, I tried again and got the "true" weight. I remembered what a poster on the message boards said about moving your scale or what the numbers will display, based on who's weighed on it last. I'm sure that's what was going on since, after getting the "good" number, I weighed three more times and received the same results. High protein definitely works.

R2, P3 Day 4 - Feeling Cheesy

I was down 1.6lbs today. Woohoo! Kind of wondering what tomorrow will bring, since I've been eating very well today. Hooray for taco bake! Everyone in the house was happy, my eldest getting seconds and asking for thirds was a nice compliment. I altered the recipe to a lower-fat version (although, I'm not watching my fat). I figure it's important to think about some of those aspects even now.

So, here's what I had:

R2, P3 Day 3 - Steak Day!

I wasn't going to but, it just sort of worked out this way. I was so busy with work that I never ate. I literally forgot to eat! I used to say, "It takes a special kind of stupid for you to forget to eat." Oh, well. So, I decided (since I am up two pounds above LIW anyway and despite TOM) I might as well do a steak day. Everything sort of put me in that position (hubby bought fresh sirloin last night and put it in the fridge for me to cook for my meal today). How about that!

After tracking my weight into my online document, I decided to look at last round's P3 to gain a little clarity. Not only did I have to do a steak day two days after P3 started the last time, but I was also in the midst of my TOM. Craziness! Seems I can't win for losing with this water retention game and TOM. ;) So, I also noted the days when the weight was at its most stable. Protein anywhere over 50 grams seems to be best for me. Also, the days where protein was it's heaviest, I usually had a loss or no change the next day. There you have it! It seems I am capable of learning after all. :)

Here's the steak day info:

I was 142.2lbs this morning and feeling extra bloated (2.8lbs above LIW). Here's to hoping that the carnivore cure worked and that TOM bids me adieu tomorrow!
