Making Good Progress

I've lost a few "L.B.s", as the gossip shows put it. It's a slow, steady journey. I'm mostly low carb so, the fat content is a bit higher than what I've done in the past, but I'm sated and feeling like I'm getting good nutrition. Hubby and I started our Detox this week. I can't tell if it's doing anything yet, but I'll keep up the regime for the entire 7 days as directed. It can only make things better, right?

Last night, I made a cheesy, green bean chicken casserole. The main ingredients were cheese, chicken and green beans but the other tidbits are what made it extra special. I hit three of the main food groups with just one dish! The girls? In heaven! Both asked for seconds and my oldest asked for thirds. We finished it up tonight. That recipe is definitely making its way into my regular rotation.

I need to get in more activity, but it's hard with my insane work schedule. I actually didn't get done until 7:45 this evening. Ugh! Thankfully, not a regular occurrence for me but, yeesh! I hope I don't see many more long evenings like it again. The workouts, however sparse, have been effective and make me feel good. I'm not doing anything too strenous yet. A bit of treadmill walking and some Wii action gets my heart rate pumping. I look forward to doing my Firm discs again. That's when I'll incorporate weight training and that's always good.

"Hello, TOM. What's with you being a day late? You better not pull a fast one and show up during my romantic New Year's with my hubby. I will be very put out."

Not Doing So Well

Since our trip to Washington, I can't seem to get my act together. Part of it is the cooking. I have to get back into the swing of cooking on a regular basis. The way to do that is to get more sleep (we seem to be getting to bed later and later, which means less sleep at night, which means a lot more tired in the mornings). Hubby has been bringing Isagen.ix home and I've decided to really take a look at the material and, perhaps, give it a go as a cleanser. Maybe my plumbing is gunky and needs some help. Maybe I can "Jump start My Heart" into action again.

Last night, we did the "quick fix" and picked up Wendy's for dinner. Although I didn't go incredibly over board, we ate much later than usual (around 8:30pm). We've been eating later and that definitely will thwart any kind of progress. The weight is creeping back on and I'm not happy about it. To try and help myself from last nights damage, I worked out on the elliptical for 74 minutes which totaled 1000 calories burned. I was thinking I might go at it again (if time permits) but, we'll have to see. The babe has dance class tonight so my time is sort of all over the place.

Meanwhile, I still have my goal insight. As I said, I'm going to research Isageni.x and then I'm going to work hard at getting my eating back under control, along with my sleep. I'm going to restrict my alcohol intake to the weekends too (nightly cocktails are not helpful to the process). It's all about eating clean again. Fish, chicken, oatmeal, egg whites...bring it on!

New Year and a New Attitude

Resolutions? I really don't believe in them, but for the sake of this post and this particular blog, I will say that I'm resolved to getting back into great shape for 2007. I got off to a great start in early December and then it all went to hell just before I took off for winter vacation. Hubby and I were eating everything we could get our hands on. Honestly, it was a good thing because I am so sick of fast food, junk and candy. Really and truly. I was so happy to have a bowl of soup and a sandwich that I made for lunch today. I think my body rejoiced at the purity of the vegetables.

I began a detox today to get the ball rolling (a full clean out of my system in order to prepare it for the rough road ahead). So far, the only side effect I've experienced is a mild headache which I hope will disappear in a day or so. I thought I'd be living in the bathroom with this stuff, but thankfully that hasn't happened. Hmm...I wonder if it will?

Next is the workout portion of my "get fit" plan. The best thing for me to do to get the ball rolling is to start jogging. It's not my favorite of exercises and I worry that I'm putting too much stress on my knees. Despite all that, I know it's the "magic pill" to getting things reved up again. I don't intend to keep it going through out the entire length of my program, but it will be essential to the start. I'll pace myself and treat my knees with kindness.

I'm planning on goals and rewards to keep me motivated. For every five pounds loss, I'll earn a reward the ultimate being the ability to get back into my jeans and eventually, my goal outfit (purchased from Newport News last year when I was initially motivated to get this baby weight off). Here's to resolutions and goals!
