R2, P2, VLCD 6 - More Protein is Better

I didn't clear 500 today and I was also bit hungry. I think more protein would have helped as well as more water. Still not getting it all in. Unlike round one, I just don't want it. I have to force the water down. Weird! I'll keep trying because I know how much it helps me.

Back to work, tomorrow. Do I have to? I really enjoyed the day off and hubby played hookie, which was nice too.

I was down 1.4lbs this morning. Here's what I had today:

R2, P2, VLCD 5 - Indulging in BBQ

Well, as much as one can indulge on 500 calories per day. My mother grilled today, rather than tomorrow. Her reasoning? You can actually enjoy the day off, rather than slaving away over a hot grill. I love her logic.

Anyway, she grilled chicken, halibut, salmon, tilapia, giant hot dogs and ribs. She accompanied these meats with potato salad, corn on the cob, green bean casserole and spinach salad. What a mom! I ate some of the halibut, the spinach and had fresh strawberries for dessert. I also packed away enough left overs to have lunch and dinner for the next two weeks. Sweet!

Like a crazy woman, I stood on her scale when I went to use the potty. I never have unrealistic expectations when I step on a scale, fully clothed at the end of the day. Shockingly, it was 1.4lbs lower than what I was this morning. Huh? I told her that I was sure her scale weighed light. Anyway, I came home, stripped and stepped on my own scale. It read the same weight I was this morning. Either way, I know I've had a loss already. Well, alright! Round 2 is going well, indeed!

I was 1.8lbs lighter than yesterday.

I didn't sleep well, but woke up with a 1.8lb loss this morning. Cool! I had a chicken breast from the store, so I'm not sure about the calorie content and fat. I did pull all the bones out. I dipped the chicken in honey dijon mustard. Lovely! [edit this diary entry]

Today's weight, a bit of a number's flip/flop from yesterday. I was 156.8lbs now officially below my LIW. By the way, today was a "skip" day, so the hunger was noticeably stronger, hence the several cups of coffee. That seems to help a lot.

R2, P2, VLCD 4 - Weekend Hungries

I remember my own advice of staying away from food courts during P2. The same can be said for demonstration booths and the Sam's Club and Costco (both of which we visited today). Due to the Memorial Day weekend, there were actual "meal" booths at both stores. Sam's had shredded BBQ on a bun for samples, and Costco was giving away full, frozen yogurt bars and full cups of yogurt. It was terribly, terribly hard but I persevered.

We came home and I had my cabbage, shrimp, strawberries and tea. I think I'll have another cup of tea and then call it good. I didn't get all of my water in today. I won't worry too much about it since I was able to keep the cheese samples and yogurt from my lips.

I had a 2.2lb loss from yesterday.

Round 2, P2, VLCD 3 - Cresting Over the Hump

That's how I feel about the third day of the vlcd. I'm feeling much better...well, losing over 4 lbs since yesterday made me feel pretty good, too. I got close to 400 calories and tried something new for my dinner; steamed cabbage (thanks, Susan). Oh! Why haven't I done this sooner! It was so tasty. In the past, I have adored cabbage but it's always nauseated me. I don't seem to have any issues right now, so I'll be making this a staple too.

For next week's steak, I purchased some more green onions and will be happy to add those back into the steak juice again. That was heavenly! Perhaps, now that it's spring and nearly summer, the crab legs will go on sale and I can have some more manna. I just love fresh crab meat (I'm not crazy about the pouched/canned).

Here's what I had today:

Round 2, P2, VLCD 2 - Still Low, Feeling Okay

I still didn't get anywhere close to 500 calories today. The chicken for dinner was a good choice and I'll be picking up more in the future. I'm also digging the green onions (didn't eat those last time, but they taste mighty fine with my steak). I need lots and lots, though. Once you chop them up and saute them, there's not much left. I believe I could get closer to 500 with more onions.

I was down 2.2lbs this morning.

Round 2, P2, VLCD 1 - A Little Low

Back in round one, not once did I make the 500 calorie mark. I kind of hoped I'd do it today, just to offset the beginnings of the tough part of this diet (in my opinion, at least). The first three days of the vlcd is the big obstacle in the road. The mild headache, the cravings and the mental resolve are the main activities for those three days. This pattern is repeating with one difference; I know what to expect and am better prepared.

I only breached slightly above 200 calories today. I could eat a piece of Melba toast, but I don't want to cause issue with even those few carbs. I'll have chicken tomorrow which will be much more filling and heavier in calories.

Here's what I had:

Starting to feel less clogged, after the last two days of loading. The crazy thing? I weighed in at 167.2 this morning. Yikes! Today is my first VLCD day for round 2. I'm very motivated, but also a bit nervous. Wish me luck! [edit this diary entry]
