BFF Visit Too Quickly Passes

Round 3 begins tomorrow. Am I ready? Well, we shall see. I've purchased enough meat items and cabbage to last me a few days, once the VLCDs begin. I'll have to get used to cooking everything separately again but I've done it before, right?

The loading is fun, but difficult. The HCG makes it tough to eat and I have in mind how I'll load. After my visit with my best friend, I'm sort of sick of eating out (as is my wallet); however, I do need to say good bye to my favorites for the next month or so. Indian, Chinese and Greek are definitely on the menu (and the only items I didn't eat while the best friend was here).

I miss her already! We are still joined at the hip and never seem to run out of things to talk about. I love her dearly and despise that we are so far apart. She's an amazing support system that I need so much, but can't have on a regular basis (because there's no way I'm moving back to Nashville). So, we're resolved to alternating our visits each year. I will be there next October and when she sees my kids again, they will be 7 and 12 years old. That's crazy!

I'll weigh in the morning. I have a feeling I'll be at the weight I was when I started round 2, especially after all the crap we ate this weekend. Even though I can't work out, I have a goal to have that blasted new treadmill put together before my phase 3 begins. I gotta have my work outs ready to go, once I hit maintenance. The maintenance went very well, so long as I was working out regularly. As soon as I stopped (shortly after our return from vacation), the weight returned. I'm also resigned to a low-car lifestyle. I just don't do well with them. Even though I'm no where near the number of carbs I was ingesting before the protocol, I feel a difference mentally and physically.

Loading begins tomorrow. I'm thinking a scone with loads of honey butter and bacon for breakfast. I've been enjoying cappuccinos since the cold has come in and the new pumpkin spice flavor is lovely. I may have one of those, at some point. Chinese and Greek will round out the day and I know I'll probably be so full and uncomfortable. I don't look forward to that at all, but it is so necessary for the process.

So, the short round may not get me back into the 130's and I'm really not upset about it. Crazy, right? I was so all about being 135 but I felt good at 140-145. My hubby was also happy with that weight and I didn't look frail. So, if 145 is to be my ideal weight for me, then so be it. Here we go!

Burning a Lot, Eating too Much

I burned over 1000 calories with the two workouts I had, yesterday. The smart thing would have been to keep my nutrition levels the same; however, it really is rare that I do the "right" thing, when it comes to my eating. Also, I understand that your body needs more the harder it works. Why deny it? Anyway, it seriously needs to be a low day so I don't lose my momentum. Oh! Before I forget...something that's not on here is the fact that I've been drinking at least 64 ounces of water per day, and at most 88. Weekends' are tough, when trying to get the 88.

Here's yesterday's journal entry as well as the day before (I realized I missed Tuesday's, yesterday):

Calorie goal: 1,318; calories consumed: 1,759; calories burned: 0
Net calories: 1,759
It's a chilly May day and I'm working from home with the space heater on. Imagine that! Anyway, I worked out on the elliptical for 50 minutes, burning 600 calories. I took two Farenheit this morning, then ate a yummy breakfast.

*UPDATE* Worked out on the elliptical in the afternoon for thirty minutes. Burned 415 calories. The calorie intake for today is a bit higher, probably due to the workouts. [edit this diary entry]

Mood: Content

I've done well with my eating and water today. I don't know what plans are for dinner, but it we have left overs, I'll leave the pasta salad alone. Who knew there was so much salt in it! I'll steam more vegetables and opt for those instead.

No workout this morning, but the "plan" is to workout this evening. It's day two of two Farenheit pills in the AM. We'll see how that goes. [edit this diary entry]

A Slip, of Course

That's why I'm not logging like a fiend anymore. Halloween sort of screwed up everything (although I'm not making love to the chocolate like I was before). I'm still working out, despite everything, and have started doing my firm videos again. Ego more than anything has kept me working out. Not sure if it's helping, with all the damage I'm doing. I will be back! Can't say when, but I will!

September 29 - Training Entry

Morning Workout - 60 minutes Elliptical trainer (610 calories, no resistance)

Breakfast - 1 bowl (1 cup) fiber one cereal with coffemate. One cup of Folgers Instant with two teaspoons of splenda. (not much, I know. This turns out to be around 350 calories, 2 grams of fat, 82 carbs and 5 grams of protein)

Lunch - Budget Gourmet Spicy szchewan style noodles and veggies, 4 slices of Healthy ones deli-slice honey ham)

Goal Restructure:

So, back in April of this year (gosh, nearly 1/2 a year ago? Really?!), I'd hit a new goal and was elated! Vacation time helped in thwarting my progress back about eleven pounds, so now it's time to reset and get serious. Hubby's training has been helpful, but I need to get organized with me eating my way. The original goals would have been great to meet during the summer months (which were my plans). My perfume, which I've started wearing, is as lovely as I remember. Unfortunately, I bought the spray cologne, which seems to send my sinuses into overdrive. Next time, I'll be sure to order the perfume sans atomizer. The Mariposa store is going out of business, so I may pick up an item or two for the future. Which size should I buy? An eight, a six, a four? Wow! Too hopeful, I think. We'll see what they have left (I may shoot over there today after work to see what's around).

So, the goal by December? Thirty pounds. How will I do this? Limited calories during the weekdays, with one splurge day per week. If the splurge is picked during the middle of the week, no splurging on the weekend. I have a dinner this week with friends and my plan is to "keep it cool" even then. No eating after 7:00pm. That seems to do a world of good for me. Wine is okay any day of the week now (rather than just the weekends...I have a feeling I'm going to need it). Hard liquor is restricted to the weekends (if Amaretto is considered hard). Fat count around 30 to 40 grams per day. Carbs? No more than 170 (I'm still weight training, so I need them). Still drinking my gallon of water, which is great! That's a pat on the back that I can carry on through this new plan. I'm really proud of myself in this regard.

So with no further delay:

Starting weight now: 172 (weeks of work and no change from this blasted number...f.r.u.s.t.r.a.t.i.n.g)

  • 5lbs (167) - Buy a movie from wish list (that's been on there for ages!)
  • 10lbs (162)- Physician's Formula Lip glass (I love this stuff! It never seems to wear off...you get what you pay for)
  • 15lbs (157)- New shoes! (Mary Jane's I'm still after...not necessarily the ones pictured here).
  • 20lbs (152) - Lower Back Attack Massage and a Custom Facial
  • 25lbs (147) - Hair Braided
  • 30lbs (142) - Trip out of town (buy a new outfit to wear "there" in my new size) I would go to Vegas, but it's just too much to handle by myself.

More Motivation (TOM)

So, after hubby's show this weekend, I have more motivation to try and tackle the whole figure physique. I think if I lost thirty pounds (Phew! That seems like a whole, heck of a lot) and had the muscle I'm carrying now, I could do pretty well. My weight training will have to pick up. As I mentioned before, I've been doing crazy cardio as of late (burning somewhere in the neighborhood of 700-800 calories per session). I've also been eating more because of this, but not always the best items. I've got to get back into the Oats-eggs-tuna regime. It's so boring, though!!

I didn't weigh last week because TOM showed up. Then, a couple of days later, hubby stepped on the scale and it responded with a flashing "CAL" which normally means it's calibrating; however, this usually goes away after a few seconds. Not so that time. It flashed like a disco ball for nearly a minute and a half. Not a good sign. Now, the screen is dark. You try to step on it and no response. I tried replacing the battery and...nothing. The scale is officially dead. When I get another one of those 20% off coupons (that we all get) for BedBathandBeyond again, I'll be purchasing a new scale. I don't feel that I'm a slave to it anymore, I just like to gauge what's happening. I also need the numbers for my goal rewards (haven't had one of those in a while...sigh). The next one is perfume. (Que A Chorus Line..."God, I hope I get it...I hope I get it!")

My legs are like rocks, did I mention this? Seriously. They are hard where the muscles are. The flabby part isn't as flabby, but I'm thinking I'd like the flabby part to be taut as well. The arms need serious help! I can tell I've lost fat in them, but it looks like the air has been let out and they are swinging. Yikes! My triceps are beautiful when I flex, but I want them to look like that even when I don't. I've seriously got to get to work. As I looked at the women at the show I thought, "You know, I could do this." The only draw back is that I don't have a gym membership. Perhaps my goal will be to see if you can compete without a gym membership. Can a person place in a show who only has her free weights, her cardio equipment and her videos? I wonder...

It will probably be a year before I can even attempt as much and that's if I can keep myself going without interruptions like sickness, work weirdness and kid drama. I guess it's a wait-and-see game.

Sweating with the Babe

After the doctor's visit, prescription filling and dental visit, I came home ready to workout. A little strange for me, since I'm not usually excited about working out in the evening, but since I'd missed it in the morning, I thought I'd better get to it. The babe wanted to participate with me, so when I grabbed my weights, she grabbed hers. We rolled out the mat and started the tape. She did pretty well for someone who has never seen the routine before. By the second round of aerobics (this is a 45 minute aerobic and weight training video pictured here), she was sweating too, and made sure to comment about it.

By the last ten minutes, she was pretty much done while I pounded through the difficult, non-stop abdominal routine. Ouch! As I watched myself reflected in the stereo glass, I'm really not happy with the state my arms are in. Oh, I understand that it's a slow process. The fat loss coupled with the toning will do the trick, but until then, my arms are looking flabby and unattractive. It's no wonder my blouses don't fit well in the arms. Not cute.

Today, I have a lunch date with a friend and I need to investigate what the better choices are, in terms of what to eat there. I do have a couple of staples I like that I don't think are too fattening, but then, you think they're not until you research and find out the "light" sauce they use has 45 fat grams.

TOM is on the way and I feel the water weight being held hostage in my body. I'm not expecting miracles with tomorrow's number but, I do hope the gain (if any) I show is only a couple of pounds (all water). I've been sucking down the salt like you wouldn't believe! For Lent, I'm giving up all forms of chocolate (including the dark pieces I have occasionally as a treat). I'll have to find a new treat until Easter, I guess. Already I've almost slipped twice and without even realizing it! I've given up chocolate before, but this time (with it's strange, seductive hold on me), I have a feeling it will be much more difficult.

Not Bad, but Not Good

Still struggling with illness and getting mighty frustrated about it. I cough, I wheeze, I breathe really hard. I run out of energy and think, "Lord, is this the end?" Why can't I get over this crap? I'm not sure if it's the inversion, my new regime or just the devil chasing after me. What gives? I just want to feel good and get back on track. It's not exactly easy trying to work out when you sound like you're going to cough up a lung with each lunge or pony-step.

I have stayed on track with my eating and have done a pretty good job of not deviating too far from the good. Saturday, we fried up chicken (but I fry in olive oil with my own, special recipe). The side item was organic shells and cheese and I only had one bread twist. I even made some very wise choices when we went out to lunch on Friday (Chinese):

Chicken and green beans
Lo mein
Steamed White Rice (substituted from Fried Rice)
Miso Soup

On my sick day home, I picked up a Slim Slam from Denny's:

2 hotcakes (no butter)
Skillet honey ham
Egg Beaters

It was delicious, without the 60 or some odd grams of fat a regular Slam carries. Yikes!
Today, I even weighed myself (despite my better judgement...ever since TOM arrived on Monday, I've felt like a beached whale. Guess what? It's not as bad as I would have guessed. I "clocked" in at 188.5 thank you very much. Is it wrong to pray that I'm carrying around five pounds of water or is that just wishful thinking?

Starting to Feel The Changes

Yesterday morning, I tried Hooked on Aerobics for the first time in a long, long time. It was rough! I found myself transitioning down to the low effort, often. I was just huffing and puffing, but thankfully, staying within my target heart rate. With as difficult as it was, I felt really energized afterwards. It hit me while I was showering that it was the most energized I'd felt since beginning my program last week. It occurred to me that I probably haven't been reaching my target heart rate with the walking workouts...you know, not putting out enough effort to reach it regardless of the sweat I was seeing.

Today, I couldn't do Hooked because hubby was home and the only VCR that currently works resides in our bedroom (I fixed that this morning on my way to work by stopping at Wally World and picking up a new VCR to put in the living room). We needed one anyway. My mother gave us a DVD burner for Christmas and I want to convert home videos and such to DVD...but I digress. I took my walking DVD up front and went through the two-mile, thirty minute workout. This time, I put forth the effort and felt like I was really doing well. I also noticed how much better I did since last week. I guess I'm getting stronger. It's still a bit uncomfortable, but I did it. I can't way to say that about Hooked and The Firm. Then, I know I would be making huge leaps.

Here are my stats from yesterday: 72 ounces of water, 1380 calories, 41.5 fat grams and 35 grams of fiber. I'm not counting carbs or protein this time because I'm eating low glycemic items. Doing so, my carbs are under control and I'm getting a lot of protein. I really like this because I don't feel like I'm going to starve to death. That was always my issue before. I would just get so hungry and want to eat everything in site. I'd crave those high glycemic carbs which would only satisfy me temporarily. Then, I'd be hungry again. I've also noticed how even I am. No more highs and lows with erratic behavior towards my hubby (or at least, not as erratic). With all that, I'm putting out an APB on my extra weight. It's armed and extremely dangerous. It has a warrant for attempted murder, physical and mental abuse. I'm hoping it gets the death penalty...preferably by electrocution by body heat.
